“Winter has finally come”. And with it, the White Walkers too. The season 7 ending of the GOT series has given us fans a lot to think about. The White Walkers are no longer just marching to get to Westeros, they have now come to it. Viserion, once Daenarys’s dragon, is now the undead mount of the Night King. The finale episode showed the Night King with Viserion’s aid is able to break down the wall. So, it’s not difficult assume what step the Night King will take thereafter. There are several plot twists and revelations that we expect seeing in the season finale, that is making us restless during this long wait. The final season of Game of Thrones is to be aired reportedly sometime in April,2019. While it’s a long wait, here is what you can do! Rewatch the series starting today, so that when the finale comes everything is fresh in your memory. And while you do that, check out these 11 interesting ways that the GOT series could end.
#1 Jon Snow (a.k.a. Aegon Targaryen) will win and rule over what is left of Westeros
A war is coming. A War between the dead and the living. Jon Snow has fought the White Walkers and knows their strength. He therefore came to Daenarys to ask for aid in the form of Dragon Glass. Only Dragon Glass and Valyrian Steel are the two known sustance that can kill a White Walker. In a plot twist shown in the previous season of the GOT series, we already know that Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Samwell Tarly and Bran is shown talking about Jon’s parentage and Sam showing proof that Rhaegar and Lyanna were lawfully married in Dorne. This makes Jon the legitimate heir to the throne. This might also be why when Drogon and Jon came face to face, Drogon was receptive to Jon’s touch. Being a Targaryen, it would seem that even Jon could bond with Dragons. Jon is also mostly likely the prophesied ” Azor Ahai”. So, it could very well be that, once the great war is over and the living wins,Jon would rule over what is left of Westeros.
#2 Daenarys will die in the war
Some fan theories that has been circulating regarding Daenarys is the fact she will probably die in the war. In season 2, the vision Daenarys was shown in the House of the Undying are thought to be prophetic. One among these visions was of her walking through the throne room of King’s Landing which was ruined and snow covered. There was an exit door shown and Daenarys was shown going through it. This door led to the Wall. She could hear endearing noises coming all the time she was struggling through the blizzard. In the end, she emerges and sees a Dothraki tent with Khal Drogo and her unborn son inside it. The vision ends here. While the blizzard might indicate her fight with the White Walkers, the tent is symbolic of her doom in the Great War. For only in death, could she unite with her husband and son.
#3 The end of Cersei
Towards the end of the last season, there was another plot twist in the form of Cersei announcing to Jaime that she is pregnant. While many think that this might be her one last try to get back Jaime’s loyalty, others believe it could very well be the truth. Fans remember Cersei telling a story about her future being prophesied by a witch who stated that she would have three living children. If that is considered, then either Cersei will lose the baby or she herself will perish in childbirth. Another theory doing the rounds is that the witch had also said one of her brothers would kill her. Cersei always believed it would be Tyrion who would kill her but the way the series is unfolding, it could very well be Jaime too. Jaime has grown to dislike Cersei and her games. So just like he murdered the “Mad King”, he might even take up his sword against Cersei too. The finale of GOT series has a lot to resolve and we would love to see Jaime’s character getting more screen space.
#4 Tyrion Lannister Gets the Throne
In a lot of Game of thrones fan theories, Tyrion is said to be a secret Targaryen. Maybe it is because of this, that Tywin Lannister hated him so much. The mad king, Aery’s was believed to have great lust for Tyrion’s mother and hence as fan theories go, Tyrion just might be their offspring. This theory has not yet been disproved. Also many wondered why Tyrion was able to get near Daenarys’s dragons while they were locked up and not get roasted. This maybe because he has some blood link to the Targayens. While this theory is on hold, Tyrion is also Daernarys’s hand. He has governed with her the city of Mereen and others. He is a just ruler and in Daenarys’s and Jon’s absence will make for a truly great King. So if the GOT series ending sees both Jon and Daenarys dying for the cause, it might very well be Tyrion upon whom Daenarys will leave the throne.
#5 The Night King Wins
Yes, the Night King might just win in the Game of thrones last season. We have already seen the Night King, riding the undead Viserion and burning a hole in the Wall. This allowed his entire white walker army to march into Westeros. Sure, Dragonglass and Valyrian steel can kill white walkers but is that the same way the Night King could be killed too? Remember, the Night King has a shard of dragonglass in his heart that made him who he is now. So, one wrong move on the part of Jon and Daenarys could very well cost them everything. The Night King would then manage to doom the whole of Westeros with his cold plague and this winter would be the last for all of the remaining noble see.
#6 Cersei Wins
Cersei is one character who has always won against the odds. So, who is to say this won’t happen again? She is the first queen of the seven kingdoms to come to power after the death of her son Tommen. Cersei gets joy by crushing her enemies and although she has never had to face the Undead army, she is definitely not one to easily give up. She might just mount a large scale attack against the Undead army with any leftover wildfire. It would be quite a shock if both Jon and Daenarys fail in their efforts to stop the Night King, only to have Cersei come to the rescue. The GOT series has had many shocking episodes and if this one comes about to be true, it would be mind blowing.
#7 Baby Targaryen Gets the Throne
The final two episodes of the GOT series has involved showing a lot of intimacy between Jon and Daenarys. The season showed, Jorah Mormont telling Jon to keep his fathers sword and pass it down to his children. In another episode, Daenarys is shown telling Jon that she could never conceive and Jon replying to it by asking her whether she has tried to conceive after her first child was born dead. All this in a sense is probably preparing us for a miracle baby born from Targaryen incest. It might then come about that Jon would die in the fight and Daenarys too although she would give birth to their child first. In their effort they will win against the Army of the Dead, only to perish soon after. Then either Jorah Mormont or Tyrion would serve as the Protector of the Realm, till the baby came off age to rule.
#8 Arya Would Die only to have her spirit bonded into her Direwolf Nymeria
How, when and where Arya would die is definitely a theory up for debate. Arya has Cersei on her list of persons to kill along with the Mountain and a few others. She definitely has some unfinished business! Whether she will be the one to wear the “face” of Jaime and kill Cersei, as some fans believe could happen is something could only guess at. But where and how she will die is still not clear. But being a warg, once Arya dies, she will be able to live through Nymeria, her Direwolf with whom it is believed her spirit will bond. Arya’s death is foreshadowed when she is compared to her aunty Lyanna as “beautiful, willful and dead before her time”.

#9 Sansa Will Rule the North
Sansa is one character who has shown such growth throughout the GOT series. From being a spoiled kid to the lady of Winterfell is a long journey. In between she had borne such torture and humiliation that we could only wonder at her inner strength. The seventh season has shown Sansa having good leadership qualities and have left us wondering whether she will be the one to take control of the North. It would also be a good narrative fit. Sansa began the series as someone desperate to get out of Winterfell, only to come a full circle by ruling the North.
#10 Sam will write a story about the Great war called “A Song of Ice and Fire”
While Maester Ebrose was writing a book titled, “A chronicle of the wars following the Death of King Robert” in Season seven, Sam is seen telling the Maester that would prefer a more poetic title for the text. A lot of fans picked up on this and believes that this was actually a hint and that Sam is the one narrating the story “A Song of Ice and Fire” post the Great War.
#11 Bran has dreamt about the whole Saga
This would be heart wrenching, if it comes to happen. However a post Season Seven fan theory that is circulating posits that Bran is still in Coma after his fall and has dreamt about the whole thing. Technically such a twist is possible in the Game of thrones final season because Old Nan has foreshadowed so much of what has happened. So it could be that Bran who has grown by listening to Old Nan’s tales has in his unconscious mind dreamt about the whole thing.
While there are many other possible outcomes as to how the GOT series will end, these are the one’s most likely to happen. The Game of thrones final season is bound to have a lot of twists and turns and we can’t wait to get our hands on them. There are so many of our favorite characters whom we hope survives the ordeal but be prepared for some serious heartbreak. GOT last season promises to be one of the most emotionally draining for all its fans.
