11 Best Moments Of The Big Bang Theory!

11 Best Moments Of The Big Bang Theory!

For over 12 years, Big Bang Theory has been a huge part of our lives. These characters are no longer strangers – they’re people we now relate to. From Sheldon’s ‘that’s my spot’ to Wolowitz finally finding a woman – this show has been a roller coaster of humor, making us laugh every second of the time we’ve spent watching it.

And now, finally, it’s officially coming to an end. The show has been called off – making the 12th Season its last. Although we wish there is some hope for TBBT to be revived, we believe this may be the end of it.

With the last season going on air on 24th September 2018 – let’s laugh a little and look back on the best moments over the past 11 seasons that TBBT had to offer!

#1 ‘That’s my spot’ (Season 1, Episode 1)

The absolute iconic scene in Episode 1 of Season 1 when Sheldon, for the very first time, declares ‘his spot’ on the sofa his spot.

Leonard and Sheldon see that they’ve got a new neighbor – Penny. After a very awkward greeting and small talk, Leonard convinced Sheldon to call Penny over for lunch. When they do, Penny is delighted by the idea and makes her way into their apartment (lo and behold the beginning of an 11 Seasons worth of friendship!).

After a little more talking, Penny sits down on the sofa. And that’s when we hear Sheldon declare his spot (with a reasonable justification to why he can’t sit elsewhere) for the very first time.

You would think that the older episodes – especially the very first episode – would be less funny but you’re so, so wrong. The first episode of Big Bang Theory proves that it had set a huge bench mark for funny from the moment it started. And that’s what makes this one of the best moments of this show!

Note: Sheldon has called an eternal dibs on his spot and Leonard is by far the best and the most patient roommate ever.

#2 ‘Never wanna feel like I did that day’ (Season 2, Episode 15)

Rajesh Koothrappali cannot talk to women unless they’re from his family – or unless he’s drunk or high.

That’s exactly why I absolutely love how he stops singing in a weird squeaky way in this scene.

Wolowitz on the drums, Sheldon on the electric guitar and Raj – the lead singer!

This scene is an absolute gem and I could watch the video over and over and over.

Howard and Sheldon, although appear incredibly focused, look so comical in how they play their instruments – Howard swinging his drumstick in the air every other minute and Sheldon stiffly playing the guitar.

And the best of it all is Raj! He’s dancing around like a complete maniac and he’s got this great accent when he’s singing. He’s so passionately into it that he doesn’t even notice that Penny has entered the room. But that makes it even better – because then we get that weird squeak in the end!

#3 ‘Episodes of Sub-Psychotic Rage’ (Season 3, Episode 8)

By far one of the best moments of TBBT!

I remember re-watching the TV show and bursting out laughing just like I did the first time when Sheldon says, “Episodes of Sub-Psychotic Rage”.

A little premise: Penny calls for Sheldon when she falls down in her bathtub and dislocates her shoulder. He makes his way over to her showing us another one of his iconic moves – three knocks and calling out the person’s name. The moment he sees her lying in the bathtub, instead of instinctively pulling her up and asking her if she’s okay – he lectures her about not having any mats or adhesive stickers.

He proceeds to annoy her in the most Sheldon-like way when they’re at the hospital, asking her irrelevant questions from the forms instead of just writing down the problem. Good thing, the cutely annoying Sheldon gives us another epic moment to laugh our hearts out!

I thought the best moment would be ‘In Progress’ to when Penny reacts to Sheldon’s question about her menstrual cycle but the Big Bang theory is known for one upping itself.

Note: In this episode, Koothrapalli makes fun of Leonard’s ‘accent’. Another one of the best moments and all in under 25 minutes. Go TBBT!

#4 ‘Karate Lesson When I Was 11’ (Season 4, Episode 10)

Raj and Howard are on a mission. They’ve got a big decision to make.

They need to decide that who’s the hero and who’s the sidekick in their friendship!

If I had to pick one of the Raj-Howard best moments – this would be it! Since a spider wasn’t enough – they’ve both decided to have a wrestling match to figure out who’s who.

Howard calls dibs on the red tights (Raj calling him out on it was one of my favorite bits) and they spend more than thirty minutes – not even touching each other but just going around and poking fun and calling each other names. In one of these moments, Howard finds it his duty to inform Raj that he once took a Karate lesson when he was 11 and would be a ninja if his mother could arrange carpool!

#5 ‘What am I? A Football?’ (Season 5, Episode 24)

The season 5 ends with a wedding! We’re used to emotional, tear-jerking weddings but this one will make you laugh.

Bernadette, Howard and the whole gang rushes to the city hall to get Howard and Bernadette married before Howard leaves for space. But they’re late.

Instead of waiting, their wedding takes place on the roof of Penny, Sheldon and Leonard’s building and all of them get ordained as ministers in order to conduct the wedding ceremony.

The best moments are when Bernadette’s Dad talks about Howard’s Mom’s mustache and then, while handing his daughter over to Howard, says, “Here you go”. Bernadette is shown weirded out by this statement and replies to it with, “What am I? A Football?”. The entire scene is comical and gets even better when her Dad leaves while commenting on how Howard won’t be able to catch a football.

Amy add the cherry on top as she gives her small maid-of-honor speech and ends it by saying that she would be happy to do it again if the marriage crapped out!

Note: This season is also home to an angry Bernadette bursting out on Raj for creating a confusion and suggesting there was something going on between them. If the scene wasn’t cute enough, it gets cuter when she ‘angrily’ calls him a cutie pie and tells him any girl would be lucky to have him when he asks if he has a shot with Penny.

#6 “Say it!” (Season 6, Episode 1 & 8)

In an interview, Kunal Nayyar (Raj) talks about how this season shifted to different aspects of the characters’ lives – moving on from just wanting to have fun and playing their signature ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ to finally thinking about love seriously and wanting a family. Although the series shifts to slightly ‘serious’ topics – the humor is as evident as it was before.

One of the best moments of season 6 – which also is the cutest – is an amalgamation of two scenes between Penny and Leonard. In Episode 1, Raj crashes Penny and Leonard’s time together where they’re supposed to discuss their issues. When he learns Penny hasn’t said the L-word – he pushes her to say it and in reply, gets thrown out of the apartment.

Fast forward to Epsiode 8 and Leonard is acting like a jealous boyfriend because of his own insecurities – and that hurts Penny. While confronting him, she unknowingly mentions that she loves him. It’s the first time she’s said it in five years.

She almost cries but then tells Leonard she’s going to go or else he’s going to start crying too. Choking up but agreeing with Penny, Leonard lets her go. This scene adds the tiny little bit of humor to make the TBBT ‘serious’ scene – funnier.

#7 “Light Saber Belt Buckle” & “Sheldon’s Dilemma” (Season 7, Episode 7 & 19)

Episode 7 –

Raj makes Howard a blue Light Saber belt buckle. He makes a red one for himself too. And then suggests they can have sword fights whenever they want.

Need I say more?

Epsiode 19 –

This is one of the absolute best moments of the entire show. It’s one scene you can keep going back to and it still has the same effect on you every time.

Sheldon is talking about the new PS4 and Xbox 1. Amy asks Sheldon to pass the butter but Sheldon interrupts by saying that he doesn’t think Amy’s taking his ‘dilemma’ seriously.

Annoyed but patient, Amy tells him that he has her undivided attention. The scene that follows – you need to watch it for yourself!

#8 “Mothers” (Season 8, Episode 23)

Penny caught up between science and religion.

Sheldon’s mom – Mary, a religious Christian, and Leonard’s mom – Beverly, a psychiatrist – begin bickering when Beverly describes Mary’s views as superstitious. TBBT comically shows how often science and religion, when in the same room, end up of opposite teams fighting for the upper hand. And of course, thanks to that we get the epic ‘facepalm’ scene!

It’s so funny to watch the mothers shake hands by the end of their argument as a form of truce but then realize that conflict is still evident when Beverly tells Mary that she will ‘respect her right to her beliefs’ and Mary replies with ‘I will pray for you’.

#9 “Karaoke Night” (Season 9, Episode 16)

Bernadette is pregnant and Howard is freaking out.

After Howard, thanks to the other boys & their karaoke, calms himself down – he apologizes to Bernadette and that’s when the real party begins.

They’re all in a tiki bar, getting drunk and singing their hearts out.

Bernadette is sitting on the stage and all the songs her friends are singing have one center point – Baby. It seems like after the epic success of ‘Under the Bridge’ in Season 2, The Big Bang Theory will soon drop its sickest album. Watch the video to get an insider on some of their tracks! 😉

Note: ‘Soft Kitty’ is still their best!

#10 “Brighter and Tighter” (Season 10. Episode 19)

Raj, who’s now completely comfortable talking to women, spends a very lit day bonding with Penny and…Leonard third-wheels!

In the new arrangement Raj, Penny and Leonard have – Leonard finds it increasingly difficult and uncomfortable to fit in.

Penny and Raj discuss office politics and do things together while Leonard actively tries (and fails) to be a part.

One of the best moments of this seasons lies in this very episode!

Raj and Penny are applying face masks and Raj says how he can feel the ‘moisture going into his skin’. Penny tells him that she used his eye cream last night and what he says next will having you rofl-ing! He, very casually, replies that he knew that someone was looking ‘brighter and tighter’. The best part, though, is the weird shoulder move!

#11 “Data decides” (Season 11, Episode 12)

They’re finally getting married!

Sheldon and Amy decide to hurt their friends’ feelings without taking responsibility – by using science. They do the most logical thing there is and take out emotion from their decisions. And so, they use data to decide who gets to be the maid of honor and the best man! (As odd as it sounds – it just makes things so much easier)

One score board. Two contestants for Maid of Honor. Three for Best Man.

Who will take it home?

There’s no particular ‘moment’ in this episode that’s awesome – the entire episode is one complete bundle of joy!

The Big Bang Theory has been a big part of our lives for quite a while and to know that we’re only left with only one more season is incredibly disappointing. This show has left its mark on us and we will forever be grateful for the time we had!
